The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed November 20 for judgment in the terrorism trial of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu
Justice James Omotosho announced the date on Friday following Kanu’s failure to open his defence after being granted six days by the court to present his case.

Court sets November 20 for judgment in Nnamdi Kanu’s trialIn his ruling, the judge noted that the IPOB leader had been given enough opportunity to defend himself, adding that his refusal to do so meant he could not claim any violation of his right to a fair hearing.
Meanwhile, Kanu, through his lawyers, filed a motion challenging the validity of his trial, arguing that terrorism was no longer a recognized offence under Nigerian law.
He claimed that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act, which formed the basis of his charges, had been repealed, rendering the case against him null and void.
Kanu therefore urged the court to strike out the charges and order his release, insisting that there was no longer a valid legal ground for his continued detention.
