What generative AI does is use other people’s work to deliver information. It’s basically recycling what it has seen. AI summaries turn large, complex data into brief, simpler details. Now that technology is coming to the Google Play Store.

With AI integrated into many popular apps, it was about time Google did the same for the Play Store. Google is rolling out AI-powered app reviews to the Play Store. Soon, you will be able to see AI-generated summaries based on user app reviews. You no longer have to read through hundreds of reviews to decide if an app is worth it.

When these AI summaries get to your account, there will be a clear bold caption “Users are saying” under the Ratings and reviews section of the Play Store app listings. This heading will contain the summary of all the reviews of an app. The summary will be a paragraph long, highlighting the common positive and negative points across that app’s user reviews.

AI-generated app review summaries are available in version 48.5.23-31 of the Play Store, and are yet to roll out to some devices like the Pixel 9 Pro.

To find the specific reviews that talk about a mentioned aspect of an app, check under the text summary. There you will find a selection of chips that will fetch the reviews, similar to how AI Overview works in Chrome.

Summary reviews are a helpful application of AI. The iOS Apple Store already got similar review summaries from Apple in April, and Amazon uses AI-generated review summaries for products. It was only a matter of time for Google to bring it to the Play Store.
