Media personality Noble Igwe has confirmed that his family narrowly escaped danger after a fire broke out in their Lagos home
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. when an air conditioner in the kitchen caught fire just as the family was preparing to go out for brunch.

In a post, Igwe explained that their domestic help raised the alarm, prompting his wife, Chioma, to quickly evacuate their children and grab the car keys. “About 12:30 pm, the AC in our kitchen caught fire while we were getting ready to go out for brunch. The help informed us, and Chioma ran out with her children and asked for the keys to her car,” he wrote.
He praised the swift response of their community, noting that neighbours, estate staff, and drivers all pitched in to prevent the fire from spreading beyond the kitchen. “It’s always good to build a community because today, my community showed up and fought the fire. Drivers, gatemen, house owners showed up and restricted the fire to the kitchen,” he said.
Igwe also commended the Lagos State Fire Service for arriving promptly with a brand-new fire truck, thanking the state government and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for their role in managing the situation.
Thankfully, no one was injured, and the damage was limited to the kitchen. Expressing gratitude for their safety, Igwe concluded, “We thank God almighty for his mercies and grace. Help me thank you.”
