Nigeria’s Wahid Enitan Oshodi has been re-elected as Executive Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) following the continuation of the federation’s Annual General Meeting held online on Saturday, November 15, 2025
Former Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Secretary General, Olabanji Oladapo, was also confirmed as a member of the ITTF Council after the ratification of new council members.
Oshodi, who currently serves as President of ITTF Africa, secured his re-election in the first round of voting, which featured 15 candidates from across the world. He finished among the top seven candidates, alongside representatives from the United States, China, Turkey, Australia, Ecuador, Romania, and Jordan.
Among Africa’s three contestants — Oshodi, Egypt’s Alaa Meshref, and South Africa’s Hajera Kajee — Oshodi was the only one elected into the eight-member Vice President team.
He and China’s Liu Guoliang are the only returning members from the previous executive board, with six newly elected officials joining for the 2025–2029 term. Oshodi will continue serving alongside ITTF President Petra Sörling, further strengthening Africa’s influence within global table tennis governance.
A respected sports administrator, legal practitioner, and civil engineer, Oshodi has held several notable positions in both Nigerian and continental sports. As Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Social Development from 2011, he oversaw the successful hosting of the 2012 National Sports Festival and spearheaded major sports infrastructure projects.
He later became President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation in 2013, where he championed youth development and elevated Nigeria’s international participation by hosting ITTF Challenger Series events.
Oshodi’s continental rise began in 2016 when he was elected Vice President of ITTF Africa (Western Region). He became Deputy President of the African Table Tennis Federation in 2021 and finally President in 2024, focusing on expanding access to the sport and increasing Africa’s participation and competitiveness.
With his fresh four-year mandate, Oshodi is expected to play an even more influential role in shaping the future of global table tennis while strengthening Africa’s presence at the highest levels of the sport.
