Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to visit Kebbi State on Wednesday to console the state government and offer reassurance to parents and guardians of the schoolgirls recently abducted by bandits
The visit, directed by President Bola Tinubu, aims to show the federal government’s commitment to ensuring the safe and swift return of the students.
The Vice President will engage with Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris and local authorities to assess the situation on the ground and coordinate with security agencies handling the rescue operations.
President Tinubu, in a statement, expressed deep sorrow over the abduction and extended condolences to the Nigerian military following the deaths of soldiers, including Brigadier General Musa Uba, who lost their lives while combating insurgents in Borno State.
Highlighting the need for community cooperation in security efforts, Tinubu urged residents, especially in high-risk areas, to provide information that can assist the military, police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) in keeping communities safe.
The President said:
“Our security forces cannot succeed in protecting us if the people don’t cooperate and share information that will help them keep our communities safe. I urge community leaders and compatriots across the country, especially those in the theatres of operations, to share useful information. Your cooperation is crucial in our fight against these security challenges.”
Shettima’s visit is expected to reassure the public and strengthen coordination between the federal and state governments as efforts continue to secure the release of the kidnapped schoolgirls.
