Cubana Chief Priest has written directly to Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu following the life imprisonment handed down to Nnamdi Kanu, expressing renewed hope that the detained IPOB leader may still regain his freedom
Chief Priest revealed that he had been on a lengthy call with the deputy speaker.
“I have been on call for over 42 mins with the Deputy Speaker and from all he briefed me, all hopes are not lost. MNK will get freedom hopefully because it’s now the President can take action as matter don comort from court,” he wrote.
He described Kalu as a decisive figure, insisting that earlier frustrations came from not being properly informed about the efforts underway to secure Kanu’s release.
“The Deputy Speaker is not a weak man as I stated earlier. He is an action man, is just that they failed to brief us the people with the process of their support to secure MNK release. All hopes are not yet lost,” he said.
Chief Priest went on to appeal to President Bola Tinubu directly, arguing that helping to free Kanu would restore stability to the South-East.
“Your votes are secured. The delegation coming to meet you, please listen to them sir. As long as you help us by letting MNK come home to us to fix Southeast. Just do you. Eight years dey go. Person wey cause this problem don die, make the matter sef die. Since his detention Southeast has failed woefully. We need to be on the rise again,” he wrote.
He also disclosed that he now has access to visit Kanu and plans to see him soon alongside the deputy speaker.
“I will be visiting MNK soon with DS as this conversation has helped me gain access. Make I go see Onye Ndu Ndi Igbo MNK one on one.”
This comes hours after Cubana Chief Priest blasted President Tinubu over the sentencing, warning that the president would not get “10,000 votes in the South-East” in 2027 if Kanu remains in custody.
