President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to end insecurity in Nigeria, emphasizing that no citizen should live in fear
Tinubu, who canceled his planned trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to personally oversee national security efforts following recent abductions, described safety as a basic right for all Nigerians.
In a statement on his official X account on Sunday, the President assured that his government would continue to confront criminal activities across the country.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he said.
He also confirmed that all 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, have been rescued, and 51 students kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State have been freed.
“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued. I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State have been recovered,” Tinubu stated.
The President said he has been receiving constant updates from security operatives and is monitoring the nationwide situation closely.
His comments come amid growing public pressure for stronger and faster government action against the rising wave of kidnappings and armed attacks across Nigeria.
