Senate recommends de@th penalty for kidnappers

The Senate has passed a resolution classifying kidnapping as an act of terrorism. 
 

It also stipulated that an amendment be made to the Terrorism Act to impose the maximum penalty of de@th to kidnappers. 

The resolution was made during plenary on Wednesday, Nov. 26. 

Under the new law, according to the upper legislative arm, once a kidnapping conviction is established, the de@th penalty must be applied. 
 

This comes amid rising insecurity in the country, with bandits invading schools and churches to arrest citizens.
