Google and Samsung are always among the first two companies to update their flagship phones to the latest monthly security patch. While Samsung is rolling out the update for the Galaxy S25 lineup, Google has released the November update for its matching Pixel phones.
The Galaxy S25‘s BYK3 device software that features the November 2025 security patch is now live in the Middle East, Europe, India and Australia. It’s yet to go live in the United States. The 569MB build patches security vulnerabilities and brings no other changes. In its November security news report, Samsung revealed updates for two critical and many high-risk vulnerabilities.
One UI 8.5 beta is coming soon
Unlike other Android phones, Samsung released the Android 16 build with One UI 8 for the Galaxy S25 in September. It means that the next major update for the phone will be in a few months.
According to previous reports, the company should soon launch a One UI 8.5 beta programme for its current flagship phone in a handful of markets. Samsung will start publicly beta-testing it this year, while the skin goes official with the S26 series next year.
The plan is for the beta programme to go live in late November, but from the look of things, that doesn’t seem achievable. The programme is likely to start in December 2025 or January of next year.
The One UI 8.5 software is going to be a bigger upgrade than One UI 8. Apart from UI tweaks, it could be one of the first Android interfaces to be based on the latest Quarterly Platform Release, to launch new Galaxy AI features and more Now Bar improvements.
