The funding was highlighted by Canada’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Ms. Myriam Montrat, during a media engagement in Accra.
“Technical and vocational training is a priority for us because it creates opportunity, supports industries, and builds the talent base needed for inclusive growth,” she said.

The TVET investment aligns closely with Ghana’s renewed focus on skills development and job creation, a cornerstone of the country’s economic transformation strategy.
Beyond skills training, Canada has contributed significantly to Ghana’s health sector. The country supports free primary healthcare and strengthening of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), helping approximately four million people, primarily women, access sexual and reproductive health services. Nutrition programmes targeting 2.5 million adolescent girls have reduced anaemia rates from 48% in 2022 to 43% in 2024.
Women’s empowerment and leadership have also benefited from Canadian funding. Civil society organisations supported by Canada played a key role in passing the Affirmative Action Law in 2024.
Canada continues to support the law’s implementation at the local level to enhance female representation and community leadership.
Trade and investment ties are growing, with Ghana ranking as Canada’s fifth-largest bilateral trading partner in sub-Saharan Africa.

Through the Trade Commissioner Service, collaboration is expanding in clean technology, infrastructure, ICT, sustainable mining, and agri-food processing.
“Canada seeks to create the right conditions for sustainable investment and entrepreneurship in Ghana,” Ms. Montrat added, emphasising transparency, stability, and innovation as critical to attracting new business and deepening bilateral ties.
