Their names were notably missing from the earlier list of ambassadorial nominees previously forwarded to the National Assembly.

The latest nominations were formally presented to the Senate in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary session. In the message, Tinubu appealed to lawmakers to fast-track the screening process in order to promptly fill key diplomatic positions.

Following the presentation, Akpabio directed the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs to commence screening immediately and submit its report within one week.

It will be recalled that Tinubu had earlier named Reno Omokri, former presidential aide; Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation; and Mahmood Yakubu, the immediate past chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), among previous ambassadorial nominees.
