Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele has denied claims linking him to terrorism financing
Responding on Saturday to reports naming him among alleged financiers of terrorism in Nigeria, Emefiele described the allegations as false and deliberately misleading.
In a statement, he said he has never been involved in any activity related to terrorism or its financing, either during his tenure in public office or in his private life. He added that he has never been summoned, questioned, or investigated over such claims, and has no connection to the individual making the allegation.
“There is no scintilla of truth in the allegation,” Emefiele said, calling it an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
He urged the public to ignore the reports and called on media outlets to verify information thoroughly before publication.
