Fubara holds closed-door meeting with Tinubu

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is holding a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja

Our correspondent observed the governor walking toward the President’s office at 5:01 p.m., dressed in a deep-blue long-sleeve shirt, black trousers, and a black flat cap.

Earlier, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru had also been received for a separate meeting. Details of both engagements remain undisclosed.

Fubara’s visit comes amid growing speculation that he may defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), following recent political shifts in Rivers State.

On Friday, December 5, 17 members of the House of Assembly aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, defected from the PDP to the APC, altering the legislature’s balance of power. The only three lawmakers considered loyal to Fubara have not resumed sessions since the six-month emergency rule in the state ended on September 18, adding further uncertainty to his political future.
