Vigilante arrests notorious cable vandal linked to prolonged power outage affecting parts of FCT communities

Residents of Kwali Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have expressed relief following the arrest of a suspected notorious cable vandal linked to the prolonged power outage affecting parts of Abaji and Kwali communities.

The suspect was apprehended in the early hours of Wednesday morning, December 17, 2025 at the Kwali Area Council while allegedly vandalising electricity cables with the intention of carting them away. 

Vigilante operatives in the area reportedly caught him in the act during a routine patrol.

Community sources disclosed that this is not the first time individuals suspected to be part of the same vandalism network have been arrested in Kwali.

According to residents, two to three suspects were previously apprehended and handed over to security agencies.
