Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been installed as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland.

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, described the honour as fitting, citing Tinubu’s rising relevance among young people and his commitment to philanthropic causes.

The traditional title was bestowed on Sunday, December 21, 2025, by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, at a grand ceremony held inside the Alaafin’s Palace in Oyo Town.

In a congratulatory message, Ogundoyin said the conferment represents more than a symbolic gesture, stressing that it carries responsibility and leadership expectations within Yorubaland.

“This is not just a traditional title; it is a call to service and a recognition of leadership potential,” he said, adding that the honour reflects core Yoruba ideals such as excellence, community service and enduring legacy.

The Speaker also praised the Alaafin for preserving Yoruba traditions and reinforcing the relevance of traditional institutions by honouring individuals he described as true representatives of the culture.

Ogundoyin encouraged Tinubu to leverage the title to foster unity, strengthen cultural identity, empower youths and support sustainable development across Yorubaland.
