Tinubu described Sheikh Dahiru as a compassionate figure whose teachings touched lives and whose lifelong devotion was rooted in service to Allah and humanity.

“From today onward, I announce the change of name to immortalise him from the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Azare, to be known as Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi University.”

The president reflected on the cleric’s legacy, urging Nigerians to uphold the values he exemplified while praying for national unity and progress.

“We all came from the Almighty Allah and we will return to Him. And the best thing for us is to continue to pray for peace, stability of our country, for economic prosperity, development, and to live the values that he left behind.

“May Allah grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus. May God continue to keep all of you safe, keep our country together, give us peace and prosperity.”

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, expressed appreciation for the president’s presence, describing it as a powerful show of honour to the late cleric, his family, and the people of the state. He noted that Tinubu’s visit, following the earlier representation by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the burial, underscored a deep personal regard for Sheikh Dahiru.

“We are really grateful and delighted for this visit.”

On behalf of the family, Bashir Sheikh Dahiru-Bauchi thanked the president for the high-level delegation sent to the funeral and for personally offering condolences.

Following the condolence visit, Tinubu departed Bauchi via the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport en route to Lagos.
