An improvised explosive device (IED), reportedly planted in a mosque at Gamboru Main Market in Maiduguri, Borno State, detonated around 6:00 pm as worshippers were performing their Maghrib prayers
According to sources, the mosque is usually crowded with traders and shoppers from the Gamboru market.
Our correspondent noted that this attack on a place of worship marks the latest in Maiduguri, a city that had not experienced a recent bomb blast.
Attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Keneth Daso, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
