It was a week ago that Samsung first rolled out One UI 8 Watch to the Galaxy Watch 5, both in Wi-Fi and LTE variants. The update has started reaching the Galaxy Watch 5 in more markets. It’s now available in Europe.
It hasn’t been long since the One UI 8 Watch update started landing on the Galaxy Watch 5 in Europe, and it features the October 2025 security patch and the DYK4 version number.

The update is 1.8GB in size, and the process is somewhat slow. The Galaxy Watch 5 used to be the fastest Samsung smartwatch. Now One UI 8 Watch is a huge update in both scope and size.
It’s advised that the Galaxy Watch 5 is charged to at least 50% before proceeding, as the update process is likely to take more than 10 minutes.
Some of the remarkable features in One UI 8 Watch include the following:
- Now Bar integration
- More Double Pinch gestures for controlling notifications
- New charging animations
- Enhanced notification view
- Smarter notification settings
- Bedtime guidance and Mindfulness
- Find your perfect watch face through keywords
- Get watch face recommendations
- Create custom tiles
- Personalised apps drawer
- Choose which calendars will show in the Calendar smartwatch app.
You can try updating the Watch manually, in case you haven’t received the One UI 8 Watch on your Galaxy 5. Just follow these steps: Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected phone. Go to Watch Settings > Watch software update > Download and install.
