Cancer patient and social media personality Mensah Omolola, popularly known as AuntieEsther on X, has d!ed. Her passing was confirmed on Saturday by media figure #AUNTYMUSE_, who supported her throughout her medical journey
Reacting to news of her de.ath, X user Tabuko, tweeting as swaggsphotos, wrote, “Unfortunately, we lost Aunty Esther. Very Sad!” #AUNTYMUSE_ responded, “May her soul rest in peace 🙏🙏.”

AuntieEsther had drawn attention after publicly refusing a blood transfusion recommended by doctors as part of her cancer treatment, citing her faith as a Jehovah’s Witness. Her decision sparked intense debate across social media, particularly because Nigerians had donated over ₦30 million to support her care.
The fundraising effort, largely coordinated by charity advocate Wisdom Obi-Dickson, known as #Wizarab10 on X, had reached ₦30.7 million by December 1, 2025. AuntieEsther had shared updates on her condition, revealing that the cancer was confined to her breast and armpit areas. She explained that doctors recommended chemotherapy but advised that her blood levels needed boosting first.
“My organs inside fine. Doc say she want to start chemotherapy but I go take injection,” she wrote, adding that she and her family opted for treatment methods to improve her blood count without accepting a transfusion. She also expressed gratitude to donors, writing, “I appreciate everybody. Thank you #Wizarab10 and #the_beardsina. God bless.”
The situation became more controversial when Obi-Dickson revealed that her church had warned her of potential disciplinary action, including disfellowship, if she accepted a transfusion. Doctors had reportedly offered two options: a standard transfusion-supported treatment or a more expensive, longer alternative that avoided transfusion. AuntieEsther chose the latter, respecting her religious beliefs.
