It’s been three months since the Galaxy Z Fold 7 made its debut, and like all phones, users have shared their complaints about the foldable device. Samsung has heard users’ feedback and plans to make serious changes in the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold.

Leaks suggest that Samsung is working on some of the major issues of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. When it comes to thickness, the company isn’t a match for its competitors, that’s why the Z Fold 7 fixed that issue with its 8.9mm profile when folded. The company also made the foldable lighter to match slab-style flagships, included a more powerful processor and a brighter, wider outer display that stretches closer to the edges like a traditional phone.

Even with the upgrades, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 still had some setbacks. Samsung dropped S Pen support and didn’t increase the battery capacity, but in the Galaxy Z Fold 8, both issues might be fixed.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 could come with S Pen support and a bigger battery

A report from Dealsite reveals that Samsung is making plans to upgrade the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s battery capacity to about 5,000 mAh. Compared to the 4,400 mAh of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, this improvement will deliver better battery life.

The company is working on making the display crease even less noticeable. According to the report, Samsung will make use of a new laser-drilling metal plate technology that will make the display crease less visible. Apple might also make use of this technology for its first foldable iPhone next year, as it is also struggling with minimising creases.

S Pen support will make its comeback in the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Samsung is reportedly working on an improved S Pen that will not defeat the slim design of the foldable.

With the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Samsung is expanding on the success of the Z Fold 7 while fixing current issues to make the next foldable even better. We expect to see these improvements when the Galaxy Z Fold 8 launches in July 2026.
