There have been many stories about the Galaxy S26 series. Some have been about battery, thickness, charging and pricing. A new leak suggests what Samsung’s next flagship series will be like in terms of display. Previously, the rumour was that the lineup would deliver a richer colour and power-conscious experience.
A leak from a tipster, debunks such stories. Ice Universe shares on X that the displays for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series phones will likely feature the same 2,600 nits peak brightness as the current Galaxy S25 series. He adds that it is uncertain if these screens will include other potential improvements, such as support for 10-bit colour depth or high-frequency pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming.
The leak also mentions that Samsung could use its new M14 material in its display despite maintaining the same brightness. The OLED panels with Colour Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) reduce thickness and power usage, leading to increased efficiency, reduced power drain and improved long-term reliability.
“This is not a good sign. Display brightness has stayed unchanged for several generations, and it inevitably raises suspicion that Samsung has started cutting corners on the screen,” Ice Universe added.
Although Samsung has kept the same 2,600 nits brightness level since the Galaxy S24, the company is said to be making plans to improve the overall display of the next flagship series. While the Galaxy S26 won’t compete with the OnePlus 13 which belongs to the 4,500 nits group, the Galaxy S26 display won’t be all that bad.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumoured to get a Flex Magic Pixel technology. It is a privacy feature that uses AI to electronically narrow viewing angles so that people can’t peer into your screen. It dynamically adjusts individual pixels to make the screen unreadable from the sides, without the need for physical privacy screen protectors, which dim the display of your device.
