Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Kano State on Saturday, rallying against recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump concerning Nigeria’s security
Led by Islamic groups, the demonstrators carried placards reading “We condemn Trump’s threat to attack Nigeria,” “There is no Christian genocide in Nigeria,” and “America wants to control our resources,” voicing their opposition to Trump’s claims of a Christian genocide in the country.

Trump had recently labeled Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged persecution of Christians and warned that the U.S. military could intervene if the government failed to halt the killings.
The Nigerian authorities have rejected these claims, calling them false and misleading.
