Kogi State University appoints new Vice Chancellor


The Governing Council of the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, has appointed Professor Gbenga Ibileye as the institution’s fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor

The announcement was made on Tuesday by Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Zubairu Abdullahi, who noted that “Professor Ibileye emerged tops, first out of the best three candidates.”

Professor Ibileye will take over following the completion of Professor Olayemi Akinwumi’s five-year single term, which ends in February 2026.

Born on June 7, 1966, in Kogi State, Professor Ibileye is an accomplished scholar with extensive experience in both academia and university leadership.

He earned his PhD in English Language from Ahmadu Bello University in 2002 and has been a Professor and Provost of the College of Postgraduate Studies at Federal University Lokoja since 2012.
