A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Gwarinpa, Abuja, has ordered that former Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, should remain on the administrative bail earlier granted to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
Justice Maryam Hassan gave the ruling on Thursday while deciding an application brought by Ngige through his lead counsel, Patrick Ikwueto, SAN.
In her decision, the judge directed Ngige to present a surety who must be a serving director in the Federal Government and a verified owner of landed property. The court ordered that the surety’s property title documents and travel papers be deposited with the court until Ngige recovers his own international passport.
The court noted that the EFCC had earlier released Ngige on self-recognition, with conditions including the submission of his travel documents and the provision of a surety.
The case is expected to continue on a later date.
