Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, aka K1, has approached the Ogun State High Court in Ijebu-Ode, suing Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and other relevant parties over his claim to the Awujale of Ijebuland stool
The suit, filed as an interlocutory application seeking an interim injunction on Tuesday, was seen by SaharaReporters on Thursday.
The court document, dated December 16, 2025, is titled: “IN THE HIGH COURT OF OGUN STATE IN THE IJEBU-ODE JUDICIAL DIVISION HOLDEN AT IJEBU-ODE” and is listed as Suit No: C3/238/2025.
In the filing, KWAM 1 identified himself as “Otunba Wasiu Olasunkanmi Ayinde Adesanya Marshal.” Respondents named in the suit include “His Excellency, Executive Governor of Ogun State Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR,” the Executive Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ogun State, the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi.
The application, brought as a “MOTION EXPARTE,” cites “ORDER 38 RULES 4 AND ORDER 39, RULE 1 OF THE HIGH COURT OF OGUN STATE (CIVIL PROCEDURE) RULES 2024,” “SECTION 36 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA 1999 (AS AMENDED),” and the court’s inherent jurisdiction.
KWAM 1 is seeking an “ORDER OF INTERIM INJUNCTION restraining the Respondents either by themselves, privies, assigns, agents or anyone acting on their behalf from taking any steps in the installation process of the next Awujale of Ijebuland pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit in this matter.” He also requested any further orders the court may deem appropriate.
The grounds for the application include Sections 36 and 6(6)(c) of the 1999 Constitution and the assertion that KWAM 1 is a legitimate aspirant to the Awujale stool. The filing stresses the need for the court to issue an interim injunction to protect his interests and prevent interference with the matter.
